Invitation to Submit Abstracts

Authors are invited to submit abstracts for Poster Presentation by the deadline date of 7th March 2025 for consideration by the Scientific Program Committee. Abstracts can only be submitted online via the conference website.

Please note that all presenters must pay to register for the meeting by 18th of April 2025. Registration payment not received by this date will result in presenters being withdrawn.

ASM 2025 Abstract submission requirements

  • Please click IAP Abstract Template 2025 to download the Abstract Template. All Abstract submissions must be as per the template guidelines. Abstract submissions not following the templates will not be accepted.

  • Abstracts may be submitted on any topic relevant to anatomical pathology. Only original scientific material which has not been previously published or presented at the meeting will be accepted.

  • Abstracts will be peer reviewed. The Scientific Program Committee reserves the right any abstract not meeting minimum quality standards.

  • The length of the entire abstract must be less than 200 words.

  • Please ensure that your abstract is typed in Word Format in a single cell with dimensions of 15cm wide x 12 cm high.

  • All abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar before submitting.

  • Abstracts must include results. If no results are available, submit the abstract at a future date when results are available.

 

Outcome of Abstracts

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstract Review Committee and participants will be notified of the outcome in 2 to 3 weeks after the closing date. ‘Authors of accepted abstracts are invited to hang a printed poster in the Exhibition area for viewing by peers.  (Please read poster preparation guidelines below) Abstracts of high caliber may also be selected for Oral Presentations (in additional to Poster Presentations) wherein the presenters will be requested to do an Oral Presentation at the relevant session rooms using PowerPoint slides. The outcome letter will specify all details including the Presentation date, time and the venue. 

Oral Presenters still need to set up their Posters with all the other posters in the Exhibition area.

 

Poster preparation guidelines

  • Posters should be set up between 7:00 am and 9:00 am on Friday the 31st of May and should remain on display throughout the conference days. Formal viewing sessions will be held during the session breaks of the meeting.  During these viewing sessions, you should be available near your poster board to discuss your work with peers who will be reviewing all the posters. No judging is involved; just an exchange of scientific knowledge and two way feedback.

  • The poster boards provided are vertical in format with dimensions of 1.8 m height and 1.2m width. We encourage either A1 (841 mm x 593 mm) or A0 (1189 x 841) but no bigger than A0.

  • Posters should be set up on the appropriate poster board number as provided by the Secretariat.

  • Posters should be clearly readable by viewers.

  • The message should be clear and understandable without oral explanation.

  • Illustrations, labels, etc must be attached to the poster board.

  • A label indicating the Abstract title, Author name and their affiliations should be placed at the top of the poster board to the right of the Abstract if you choose to attach a copy of the Abstract.

Abstract and Poster Awards

There are 2 categories of Abstract Awards offered by the Australasian Division of the IAP at its Annual Scientific Meetings namely Pathologist Category and Registrar Category. Presenters will be chosen from the submitted abstracts on the basis of the scoring system.

Value of the Awards

  • The First Prize winner of both the categories will receive a cash award of AUD $500 and a Certificate.

  • There will be 2 commendations made for both the categories.  They will receive a Certificate of Commendation from the IAP.

  • All other Abstract participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Please Note: Single case reports are not eligible for the Abstract Awards.

 

Award Ceremony 

The Abstract Awards will be presented during the Annual Scientific Meeting.  Venue and Time will be indicated to the Winners by the Secretariat.

 

 

Publishing of Abstracts

Accepted abstracts will be published in a special issue of Pathology.

 

Abstracts closing date

The closing date for abstract submissions is 7th March 2025.
