Call for course proposals for 2027 ASM
Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP)
Annual Scientific Meeting
Adelaide Convention & Exhibition Centre, Adelaide, Australia
28–30 May 2027
Application deadline: COB Friday 19 June 2026
Applicants notified: By the end of August 2026
Overview
In recognition of the increasing subspecialisation of pathology practice, and following the successful introduction of new educational sessions at the 2025 and 2026 ASMs, the Australasian Division of the IAP invites proposals for interactive educational courses to be delivered alongside the main scientific programme at the 2027 meeting. We would like to encourage proposals that showcase and maximise the expertise within the Australasian pathology community and also welcome contributions from international colleagues.
Proposals are encouraged for sessions that promote active learning, practical skills development, and discussion of challenging diagnostic or professional practice issues.
Suggested formats include:
- Short coursesInteractive sessions designed to broaden knowledge and subspecialty expertise for practising pathologists and registrars.
- Bootcamps
Practical, skills-focused sessions aimed at registrars, early career pathologists, or pathologists seeking to upskill in specific areas (e.g. common reporting challenges or examination preparation).
- Professional development sessions
Interactive sessions addressing laboratory management, leadership, quality systems, or other aspects of professional practice.
- Workshops / small-group learning activities
Hands-on, small-group sessions focused on practical skills development, case-based discussion, or guided problem solving.
- Meet-the-expert sessions
Case-based interactive discussions using projected microscopy or digital slides, where participants and moderators present cases for discussion with an expert.
